AND LIFE

Lunch on the way; if you find a good restaurant, it is better to have lunch in Ihosy (the capital of the Bara tribe and the chief town of the Ihorombe region. The general morphology of IHOROMBE shows three distinct sectors (East, West and South), differentiated from the point of view of landscapes, micro climates and hydrographic networks. It is the least populated region of Madagascar, 178,000 inhabitants, with a density of around 6.5 inhabitants per km². The average household size is between 4 and 5 persons. The population, mostly rural, is agro-pastoral, favored by the presence of vast fertile cultivable lands. The preferred farming system is the practice of extensive pastures for cattle breeding and extensive agriculture. This system of exploitation has contributed to the remoteness (on average, the villages are 70 km apart) and instability of the population's habitat areas, and does not facilitate zoning for administrative organization.

After lunch, you will spend the rest of your day passing the famous IhorombePlateau: a vast plateau that is one of the six categories of protected areas managed by the IUCN.

The geological structure of the surface gives the basin the image of a sort of glacis inclined towards the west, intersected by faults and gradually sinking towards the sea.

Due to its climate, the nature of its soils, its relief, two types of vegetation can be encountered in the Atsimo Andrefana Region: the terrestrial formations and the littoral formations or mangroves.

On the inland limestone plateaus, there are dense dry forests of the western domain in series with Commiphora and Dalbergia, savannahs with predominance of grasses: Danga or Ahidambo (Heteropogon contortus), Vero (Hyparrhenia rufa) with woody elements such as Sakoa (Poupartia caffra).
