Day 1: Antananarivo

Arrival at Ivato international airport, reception and transfer to the hotel. Even if Madagascar is in the southern hemisphere and everyone thinks it is very hot, on the contrary, in winter, it is cold on the highlands: the temperature drops to 6 ° C.

The Zamilane tours team will accompany you to your hotel and inform you about everything you need to do during your stay in Madagascar.

Day 2: Tananarive –Antsirabe- Miandrivazo

Completely out of the East Coast, the circuit continues on the highlands. Various panoramic landscapes extend over the famous national road number 7. Stop for the visit of the pot workshop in Ambatolampy. This is a typical workshop allowing you to know the skill and know-how of the Malagasy. You continue south after the visit, panoramic view of different landscapes: rice plantation on the terrace, corn field, vegetables….

Lunch at Antsirabe. In the afternoon, departure from Antsirabe via the national road RN34, crossing the small villages of Betafo and Mandoto, to Miandrivazo, a village on the famous Tsiribihina river.

Day 3 : Miandrivazo / Kirindy

We leave Miandriandrivazo and the landscape becomes a huge plain. We arrive in Morondava, a city in front of the sea of ​​the Mozambique Channel. After lunch, head for Kirindy forest, passing for the first time on the baobab alley. This is a must-see stage that immerses you in the heart of an exceptional landscape, bordered by several gigantic trees.

Day 4: Kirindy / Bekopaka

Visit to the “Kirindy forest” reserve. The managed forest concession of Kirindy is part of the new Menabe protected area. There are various species of fauna there: 2 species of diurnal lemurs, such as Propithecus verrauxi and Eulemur fulvus rufis, bird species (Madagascar sparrowhawk, striped bellied falcon) and even the lemur predator, the Fosa (Criptoprocta ferox ).

After visiting the reserve, continue to Bekopaka, crossing the Tsiribihina river by a motor ferry. After lunch in Belo sur Tsiribihina, direction Bekopaka.

Day 5: Bekopaka

First day in Bekopaka, dedicated to the visit of PETIT TSINGY, and a traditional pirogue excursion on the MANAMBOLO river, to discover its canyons where various species of birds and flying mammals (bats) inhabit.

 Day 6: Bekopaka

Day dedicated to the visit and trekking in the Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, in the Grand Tsingy which is registered with the world heritage of UNESCO. In the afternoon, return to the hotel.

Day 7: Bekopaka / Morondava

After breakfast, return to Morondava on the same route there. Free lunch in Belo sur Tsiribihina. Towards the end of the afternoon, pass by the Baobab alley to admire the spectacular sunset, the most photographed in Madagascar.

Day 8: Morondava / Belo sur mer

We take a red dirt track with an arid landscape of dry “bush” forest, crossing several rivers, only passable by 4 * 4 car. Arrival towards the end of the day on the coast, in the village of Belo sur Mer and free lunch. In the afternoon visit the village and the craftsmen who make wooden boats, the “Botry”, the typical local boat; possibility of a canoe trip in Belo Bay to observe a vast Mangrove forest. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: Belo sur mer – Manja.

Departure from Belo, in the morning, depending on the tide or in the afternoon, to avoid wasting time by going to the salt works in Antsirasira. Picnic lunch.

Arriving in Manja, you settle in at the hotel, and if the weather permits, you can take a short tour of the city of Manja. It should be noted that Manja is not a tourist destination but it allows you to have time to admire the beautiful landscapes between Manja in Andavadoaka; it is better to spend the night there.

Day 10: Manja – Andavadoaka

Breakfast at the hotel, continuation of the trip via the long track that crosses the tropical forest, where you can observe Baobabs, typical animals such as the iguana, Uroplatus, … free lunch (picnic advised).

In the late afternoon, arrival in Andavadoaka, a village of the Vezo tribe, fishermen along the Mozambique Channel.

Day 11: transfer to Ambatomilo

Transfer to Ambatomilo to admire again the most beautiful beach in front of the Mozambique Channel.

Day 13: Amabatomilo – isalo park.

Leaving Ambatomilo early in the morning in a 4X4 to join the tarmac road, the RN9. Lunch at Tulear, and in the afternoon, you leave the seaside to enter once again the chaotic and canonical landscape of Isalo. New discoveries await you along the way: Mahafaly tombs.

A few kilometers before arriving at the hotel, you pass a very lively village, especially at the end of the day: it is the sapphire village in Ilakaka.

Day 14: isalo park

A full day to explore the beauty of Isalo Park. The Isalo National Park is a protected area of ​​Madagascar, declared a national park in 1999.

It is a mountain range of Jurassic sandstone, stretching for almost a hundred kilometers, in a north-south direction, and cut by deep canyons and bristling with peaks.

Isalo National Park covers an area of ​​81,540 ha, stretching for almost one hundred kilometers, in a north-south direction. The erosion of the rock has carved a ruiniform relief, varying from 820 to 1240m above sea level with deep canyons, rivers, and abundant rocky vegetation. The park is also home to lemurs and other lemurs.

During your stay in Isalo, the morning is dedicated to hiking to the natural swimming pool. Now is the time to learn about the rites of the Bara tribe during the funeral and also see their provisional and final tombs and afternoon hike in the canyon to the blue and black pool. Possibility to see the sifaka or the lemur dancer and the maki catta.

Day 15: Isalo Park – Ranomafana

Depart from the hotel in the morning to visit Anja Park. It is a small park managed by the COBA (Community of Base), thanks to the existence of a species of lemur which lives there, it is a Maki catta. It’s a great place to see lemurs, chameleons and sometimes snakes.

In the afternoon, visit Antemoro paper to Ambalavao. Towards the end of the afternoon, you arrive at Ranomafana, on the outskirts of the Park.

Day 16: Ranomafana – Ambositra

The morning departure for the visit of the Ranomana Park with its various biodiversity: giraffe insect, golden lemur, bamboo lemur, sifaka … the visit lasts about two and a half hours. Then you continue the road to reach Ambositra.

Day 17: Ambositra – Antananarivo

Ambositra is a very famous town known for the specialty of the local people for wooden sculpture. The visit of the wood workshops is essential for you to know and have a little more knowledge about their experiences in wood. Then you will continue towards Antsirabe, visit of horn workshop, workshop of objects in miniatures….

Lunch at Antsirabe. After lunch, you will continue to Antananarivo for the last stage of your stay.
